Reference project

University of Pécs, Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering

MEP refurbishment of a 1950s building complex, phased so that teaching could continue undisturbed — with building automation designed in-house.

We won the contract for the internal MEP strip-out and installation works, as well as the design and installation of the building automation, for the teaching buildings of the Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering in Pécs.

Refurbishment in an occupied building

We removed the building services of the 1950s complex in several phases, keeping the remaining systems running so that teaching could continue undisturbed. They were replaced by modern, energy-efficient cooling, heating, ventilation and domestic water systems, supervised by building automation that we designed and installed ourselves.

Technical solutions

  • Base heating and cooling in the 200-seat and 400-seat lecture halls is provided by wall heating and cooling.
  • The computer labs are cooled by a total of 560 m² of ceiling cooling.
  • The small lecture rooms and the library are heated and cooled by low-noise fan coils.
  • Spaces that need ventilation have fresh-air systems with heat recovery.
  • Water-saving sanitary fittings reduce water consumption.
  • The laboratories received new ventilation, with process extraction and process gas supply for the fume cupboards.

The two teaching buildings and the laboratory and library building have a combined floor area of 17 800 m² and stand above the historic quarter of Pécs, to the north-west.
